Book Your Child’s First VisitAbout this service
Growing bodies are constantly changing. We assess how your child is moving and functioning, then tailor care to their individual needs. Paediatric care use gentler, less-forceful techniques than those typically used with adults.

Our Approach
As children grow, their bodies, movement and physical demands change. Our assessment and care adapt with them—always guided by their age, development and individual needs.
Gentle assessment considers your baby’s comfort, development and how they move during this first year.
We assess movement and function as climbing, running, jumping and everyday bumps increase.
We assess how sitting, screens, backpacks, sport and growth may influence posture and movement.
Care accounts for rapid growth and increasing demands from school, sport, training and everyday life.
Healthy growth starts with early awareness
Our mission is to help children grow up moving well, feeling confident in their bodies and supported through every stage of development.
During growth spurts, changes in posture and spinal alignment can be easy to miss. Early awareness gives families clearer information and a sensible next step before small concerns have more time to affect movement, comfort or confidence.
That's why Alma Health is offering a free scoliosis screen for local children and teenagers. It is a gentle, age-appropriate check designed to give parents a clearer picture of their child's posture and spinal development.
Frequently Asked
Clear information to help you decide whether an assessment may be the right next step for your child.
Paediatric chiropractic care is very safe when provided by a properly trained and qualified paediatric chiropractor using techniques appropriate for your child’s age, size and development. Chiropractic adjustments for babies and children are typically much gentler than those used for adults, with gentle techniques such as an activator, soft-tissue releases and fingertip pressure.
Yes. Babies and children are not adjusted the same way as adults. For babies and children, adjustments are usually very gentle and involve light, controlled pressure rather than the stronger techniques people often associate with adult chiropractic care. The amount of force used is carefully adapted to your child’s age, size and stage of development.
Paediatric adjustments are gentle and specific. We use age-appropriate techniques, light pressure and comfortable positioning to work with areas of the spine or joints that are not moving as well as they should.
Not at all. Some children come in with pain or discomfort, while others are brought in to assess movement, posture or areas that may not be functioning as well as they could. Some parents bring their child in because of a specific concern, while others want to check how their child is moving and functioning as they grow.
Children of all ages can be assessed by a chiropractor, including newborns. The assessment and any care provided will look very different for a baby compared with an older child or teenager. The techniques used are always modified to suit the child’s age and development.
It’s very common for children to feel nervous at first, especially younger children. We take the time to build trust, explain each step and adapt the visit around what they are happy with.
We start by understanding your child’s history, concerns and development, then assess how they are moving and functioning. If any further tests or scans are needed, we’ll explain why and complete them as part of the assessment. From there, we’ll clearly explain what we found and whether chiropractic care is appropriate.
Every child is different, so there is no set number of visits. We base our recommendations on what we find, how your child responds and what we are trying to achieve.
Yes, definitely. We often work alongside your child’s GP, paediatrician, physiotherapist or other healthcare providers. Where appropriate, we can share relevant information and collaborate to help provide the best overall care for your child.
