Frequently Asked
Clear, practical information about pregnancy-adapted chiropractic care and what you can expect.
Yes. Chiropractic care can be safely adapted throughout pregnancy by a properly trained chiropractor. Techniques, positioning and pressure are modified to suit your stage of pregnancy, comfort and individual needs.
Chiropractic care can begin at any stage of pregnancy, including the first trimester. The techniques used are adjusted as your body and pregnancy change. Many women also choose to begin care during the pre-pregnancy planning phase, which may be anywhere from 3–12 months before trying to conceive
Yes. Pregnancy changes how chiropractic care is provided. We modify the techniques, positions and amount of pressure used so care remains comfortable and appropriate as your body changes.
A pregnancy adjustment uses gentle, targeted techniques adapted to your body and stage of pregnancy. The exact approach depends on what we find during your assessment and what is comfortable for you.
Your positioning is adapted to your stage of pregnancy and comfort. We have specially designed pregnancy pillows with an opening for your belly, allowing you to lie comfortably without putting pressure on your stomach. We can also use side-lying positions and other modifications when needed.
Pregnant women commonly see chiropractors for lower back pain, pelvic discomfort, hip pain, neck tension and changes in posture. Others come in because movement simply feels harder or less comfortable as pregnancy progresses.
No. You do not need to be in pain to see a chiropractor during pregnancy. Some women come in for pain or discomfort, while others want support with movement, posture and how their body is adapting to pregnancy.
Every pregnancy is different, so the frequency of care will vary. How often you come depends on your individual needs, goals, what we find during your assessment and how your body responds as your pregnancy progresses.
No, you do not need a referral to see a chiropractor during pregnancy. You can book directly, and if there are any concerns that need further medical input, we will let you know.
Absolutely. Chiropractic care can work alongside the care you receive from your midwife, obstetrician, GP, physiotherapist or other healthcare providers. Each provider has a different role in supporting you throughout pregnancy.
Lower back and pelvic pain are common reasons women seek chiropractic care during pregnancy. We assess what may be contributing to your symptoms and whether chiropractic care is appropriate for you, then tailor care to your stage of pregnancy and individual needs.
Yes. A postnatal assessment can consider how your body is recovering and adapting to feeding, carrying and caring for your baby. Timing is individual and should account for your birth experience, recovery and advice from your maternity healthcare team.
